well damn

i kinda forgot i had this thing up here. anyway, i'll give you a quick update. moved to fairfax, right by the wegmans. was a bitch to find an apartment that would take sascha, but i finally played lets make a deal with the apartment manager until he gave in and let me have my dog here.

still in the car business.....finance manager at fairfax hyundai. my stohlman days are over. i learned a lot and made a lot of money there, but in the end they stabbed me in the back and really fucked me over.

waiting for my latest toy to come. a 2010 land rover LR4, white with black interior, lux package. totally badass. it should be here in august.

i've been working a million hours a week, as it seems that hyundai is taking over the entire world and we are selling hundreds of cars a month. i finally get a vacation in june, so of course im going to vegas. staying at the wynn encore, comped, of course. im still a cheap jew and if you want me to gamble in your casino you're gonna have to pay for my room and food and shit.

anyway, i think that brings you up to speed for now. if you need to know more, you know where to find me.

well....

even though im really not happy with our candidate, today was really a good news day.  well, not completely.  i mean hurricane gustav kinda sucks and stuff, but still.  the sarah palin shit hit the fan today and it is completely delish.  word.

her 17 year old daughter is knocked up.  abstinence is key.  remember, don't teach sex ed.
hubby had a DWI.  well, at least he'll have something to talk to bush about.

thats right sarah, wrap yourself up in the flag and rail on about god, guns and gays.  i think you need to worry about your own house first, beeeyatch.

4months

well, its been 4 months since i posted anything, so i guess i should at least write something on here.  i guess i'll just give you a small update.

1.  i do *not* have obama fever.  hillary should have won.  i don't care if mccain picked a former beauty queen from fucking alaska, its still going to be a tight race.  i'll vote for the party in november, but this is the first election where i wont have a bumper sticker on my car and i'm not donating any money to our nominee.

2.  i got to see liz phair on thursday.  12th concert that i've been to.  very cool show.  played the whole set of exile in guyville plus an encore of a new song, one off of whipsmart and polyester bride off of whitechocolatespaceegg.  we got to the 930 club early, so we were right up front, maybe 10 feet away.

3.  i finally recovered from my leg surgery after 4 months of hell, $2000 in co-pays and $120,000 billed to kasier permanente, thank you so much.

4.  i am back working at stohlman, which appears to be my natural habitat.

5.  i am addicted to facebook for some reason.

6.  back to driving a jeep wrangler.  a 2008 sahara, 6 speed manual, soft top, black, navigation, 400 watt sound system.  love it, although the new top that chrysler developed requires a degree in rocket science to operate.  just even opening the flip top requires about 427 steps to complete.  i don't know why they changed it.  on my '03 you could open it in about 12 seconds.

7.  moved from kensington to ashburn, which im not particularly happy about.  long story.  those who need to know, know.  i'll be moving back to montgomery county as soon as possible.

8.  am very pissed off with lufthansa airlines right now.  was supposed to go to azerbaijan to visit friends, but they raised the airfare from $1200 to $2700 for no apparent reason.  so, i'll have to just keep checking every week and see if they change the prices back.  fuckers.

9.  i am going to be 36 in 3 weeks.  then it is just a downhill slide to 40.  depressing.

well, i guess that gives you enough information for now.  you'll just have to wait for more.

thank you PA

bitchin.....hillary took PA, possibly with a 10 point lead.  she has now won every major state in the primaries.  obama outspent her 3-1, and he still couldn't close the deal.

super delegates, its up to you.  pledge with hillary.....she is the one that can beat that creepy old man mccain.

i still have hope for this country after all.

i'll sleep well tonight.

15 years??

ok, one of my all time favorite records is turning 15 years old. i still remember in 1993 when i bought exile in guyville on cassette. it feels like yesterday when i just sat in my car and listened to the whole tape, completely in awe of what i was hearing.

now, june 24 brings this:

It’s been 15 years since the release of the groundbreaking Exile in Guyville - and Liz Phair is marking the occasion by returning to her roots. Phair recently signed with the independent label ATO Records, which will release a special 15th anniversary edition of her landmark debut album on June 24th and her new studio album in the fall.

Exile in Guyville, which was out of print, will be available on CD, vinyl and - for the first time ever - in digital format. The special reissue package will include four never-before-released songs from the original recording sessions: “Ant in Alaska,” with Phair simply accompanying herself on guitar, “Wild Thing,” wherein she uses the melody and central line of The Troggs’ 1966 1 hit as a jumping off point for an otherwise all-original song, “Say You,” which features Phair and a full band, and an untitled instrumental with Liz on guitar. Phair has also just completed a new, 60-minute DVD, “Guyville Redux,” for the reissue.

In “Guyville Redux” - which features an introduction by Dave Matthews, founder/co-owner of ATO Records - Liz and the “guys” of Guyville take us back to the making of the album, the male-dominated, Chicago independent music scene of the early 1990’s (which included Urge Overkill, Material Issue, and Smashing Pumpkins), and the Wicker Park neighborhood where it all happened. Phair interviews Gerard Cosloy and Chris Lombardi of Matador Records, which originally released the record, famed indie producer Steve Albini, Ira Glass of NPR’s “This American Life,” John Henderson of the elusive indie label Feel Good All Over, Brad Wood (producer of Exile In Guyville), John Cusack (who founded the Chicago avant-garde theater group New Crime Productions), Urge Overkill, and more.

Conceived as a song-by-song response to the Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street, Exile in Guyville was released in 1993, and ranked 1 that year on both the Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll and Spin magazine’s year-end critics poll. Incredibly influential to this day, its place as a seminal rock album has been reaffirmed by its inclusion in countless historical “best of” lists over the past 15 years, including: Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” Spin’s “100 Greatest Albums, 1985-2005,” Rolling Stone’s “Women in Rock (the 50 essential albums),” Blender’s “Best Indie Rock Albums of All Time,” Pitchfork’s “Top 100 Albums of the 1990’s,” and VH1’s “Greatest Albums Of All Time,” to name but a few. Exile in Guyville is, in the words of Pitchfork, “a certifiable indie roadtrip classic.”

"Exile in Guyville’ is miles more complex than the porn-star manifesto it was often considered,” says Alan Light (former Editor-in-Chief of Spin, Vibe and Tracks) in an essay penned especially for the reissue. “Phair spoke for the uncertainties facing a new generation of women, struggling to find a balance between sexual confidence and romance, between independence and isolation…Exile in Guyville sat at the center of a culture in transition.”

well its about damn time

finally, obama is getting his nuts busted as bad as hillary from the press. its about time people realize that he's not the damn second coming. i'm sick and tired of him getting a free ride while hillary gets ripped apart at every turn.

word.

meh

i spent $200 just in co-pays today at kaiser. plus, they screwed up all my prescriptions, so i ended up having to wait an hour and a half at the pharmacy when everything was supposed to be ready. so annoying.

other than that, i'm sitting here waiting for my license to come from VA. until i get it, i can't start work. i'm hoping it gets processed quickly, i'm ready to get back to work.

my day

broken i-phone # 3. two trips to apple and at&t to get it fixed. it didn't recognize the SIM card...... driving back and forth did not please me.

$400 cellphone bill because i went over my minutes....i must have used my phone more than i thought i did....being hospital bound and then housebound i must have used the phone way too much. well, the at&t manager called the billing department and helped me out. i changed my plan to 1400 minutes instead of 900, and they waived the $280 in overage. so, i guess that was nice of them considering how many times they've fucked up my phone.

i'm so sick of barack obama i could just puke. he's getting a free ride from the media, and hillary is getting slammed every day. ugh. i'm a staunch democrat, and yes i'll vote for him if i *have* to, but god dammit i'm so annoyed with the media just fawning over him. he's even on the cover of rolling stone. when it showed up in the mailbox i just threw it in the trash. i don't want to read about him. good or bad.

tomorrow is my first day of work. i hope i don't fuck it up.

4matic is NOT quattro

i could have kept my CDi.  my E350-4matic is useless in the snow.

today was lame.  4 hours at the MVA to get my license and tags switched back to maryland.  even more lame, nevada doesn't pro-rate on returned tags.  so that was $1200 wasted just less than 4 months ago.

ooh, and then i got to go get my blood drawn.  damn this has been a fun day.

on a side note, i got a lead on a job that i *really* want.  i don't think i'll get it, but i have a small chance.  keep your paws crossed.

my starbucks card and a big fuck you to iowa

well this has been quite the day.  i started this morning off with a total fuckup.   i had taken my house key for amys house off of my keychain to leave in the garage when i left today.  well, when i woke up i decided to run to starbucks and get a coffee before i showered, packed the car, and got on the road to phoenix.

needless to say, i locked myself out of the house.  i didn't have my cellphone or my wallet, just my car keys and my starbucks card.  after cursing and freaking out for about 20 minutes, i finally remembered my criminal youth and thought, "i bet i can pop the lock with this flimsy ass starbucks card".

popped it on the first time.  word.

get in the house, get showered, pack the car, drive to phoenix.

hang out with eric, dinner, blah blah blah, caucus results.  fucking iowans.  and i can say that because i lived there for 4 years.  i've eaten at the hamburg inn (shown on cnn twice).

oh, and before i go on, and i'm not making this up, last night on the situation room wolf blitzer actually said, "its hard to know what the independents will do because of their independent streak..."   no shit?  really?

huckabee is a fucking freak, but i don't think he'll go past iowa.  but the fucking democrats.  my party.  a huge win for obama?  was everyone in iowa just a big oprah fan?  jesus.  i want my goddamned hillary and i want her now.

fuckers.

leaving las vegas....

well, i'm moving back to maryland the first week of january.  i'm driving on the 3rd to phoenix to hang out with eric for a couple of days, and then we are going to do the cross-country drive back to maryland.  lucky for me he offered to help me out.  i mean, who could resist the chance to spend 3+ days with me in the car?

oh, and i had to put this super cute picture of sascha up.  she is such a sweetface.

unfortunately, erics condo complex doesn't allow large dogs, so sascha has to be boarded.  she will be staying at the doggy spa in north scottsdale.  you can see that here.   i hate boarding her, im always afraid something will happen.  so at least this way i don't have to worry as much.

eh, thats all for now.  i need a cigarette.

right from cnn money....

In Washington, D.C. metro area, Moody's forecasts a decline in home prices of 18.4%

Fuck. Me. Senseless.

My house has already dropped by $1ook in the past year and a half.

brtineys spears, acura, fucked up health insurance, doggie tumors, broken iphones and a shout out to american express

I know i haven't been blogging too often, but i finally have a few things to write about, so here i am.

First off, I got a job at Findlay Acura in Henderson, NV. I'm pretty excited about the opportunity, the people there seem nice and hopefully it will work out. I don't like to jump around from store to store, so i'm hoping this is a match. I start tomorrow at 8 am. They are closed on sundays and alternate schedules....one week you work 8-6 and the next week from 11-8. Seems pretty fair. Really the only bad downside is the fact that its far away. It's 23 miles away and there is a lot of construction here, so realistically I'm looking at an hour and 15 minute commute each way.

Nevada is an odd state. In order to have a salespersons license, you have to have a nevada drivers license. So, i had to switch my license, get fingerprinted and get my sales license. Now i have to register the mercedes here. $1200 for license plates, and thanks to the rate of claims and uninsured drivers in Las Vegas, my car insurance is going to go from $623 for 6 months to $1858!!!!! And, my car payment will be going up since Nevada taxes lease payments at 8.75%. Bankruptcy anyone?

Next, as much as i hate to admit it, "blackout" by britney spears is awesome. make fun if you want, but that CD rocks. for the pop music genre, i don't think it gets much better than this.

Sascha had a tumor on her back leg, right at the joint where her leg bends. they did emergency surgery to remove it. shes had a rough time, whining and crying....she bled through her bandages so i had take her 3 days in a row to get re-bandaged. $1700 thank you very much. now i just wait for the pathology report. the vet was pretty straightforward and told me to expect the worst, but that they did get everything out.

My fucked up health insurance company (united healthcare, they can suck my balls), declined my emergency room visit from september. i had all the forms in place and the referrals done, but now the hospital wants $1924. I called and raised hell with the insurance co, so i'm now going to wait while they re-open the case.

Meanwhile, i needed to get a second phone. One with my main 202 number that i've had for 8 years that im going to keep as my personal phone, and then one with a local 702 number to put on my business cards. So, i ported my 202 number to a new iphone and got a 702 number transferred to my razr.

I was promised that the iphone is tough and difficult to break. I managed to have it for all of 36 hours before i dropped it glass down on the tile floor and shattered it. Luckily i put it on my american express card, and they give you 90 days accident insurance on purchases. So i have to fill out the forms and send in the dead iphone and they are going to credit my account. I have to say, out of all of my credit cards, AMEX has always provided the best service by far.

So, thats really all for now. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that the new job goes well. Now I need to try to reschedule my workout routine since im going to be working a full time job, and previously i was going to the gym from 2-330p every day. Im not sure if my trainer can work with me at night....if not, i'll have to try someone else. i desperately need to get into shape. I had to buy size 46 jackets and size 40 dress pants. out of nowhere my weight has skyrocketed to 221. a year and a half ago i weighed 155. so not cool.

Alright, im really done for now. will write more when i have time.

cheers

drift gently into mental illness....

ok, so the posting title is from one of my favorite songs ever.....mirror in the bathroom by the english beat. i saw them at the 930 club last year, and i found out they were going to be here in vegas at the house of blues. so i rushed over to mandalay bay to buy a ticket.

turns out i rushed for nothing. i get there saturday night to see the show, and there is almost nobody there. apparently they don't pull a big crowd in vegas. the house of blues ended up giving tickets away for free and the place was still empty! there were maybe 150 people there.

i have to give them props tho, they played like they were in a packed stadium of 15000 people. amazing set, played for about 90 minutes. it was a really good show.

next on the list is marilyn manson....i have tickets for their halloween show at the palms.

other than that, nothing really too interesting to report. i've been going to the gym 5 days a week and training really hard, but i haven't lost nearly as much weight as i'd hoped. im getting stronger, but not thinner. blah.

started looking for a job, although i haven't had much luck on that front. dealers don't want to hire salespeople with too much management experience i guess, they like their salespeople to be in the dark about finance/pricing/etc. i think i'm going to have to dumb down my resume to even get an interview.

well, im hungry now, so i'm going to go find some lunch. will post more when i have something interesting to say.

im a wynner...

well, today was a much better day. im sore from the workout with the trainer and the hour on the elliptical machine, but hopefully i'll be able to stick to this routine. i have 51 pounds to lose over the next 5-6 months. we'll see how it goes.

$2800 at the wynn tonight. and they are going to comp me tix to spamalot.....sweet. i saw the original in new york and it was amazing, so im looking forward to seeing it here.

it was an arctic 96 degrees here today. i actually could drive with the windows down and the a/c off. sweet.

workout

well, today is my first day of working out. i have an appointment at 12 with my new personal trainer. i hope it goes well since im inherently a lazy bastard.

lost playing cards last night. so not cool. everything was going great and then it turned into a bloodbath. painful.

errands and stuff

ok, its 109 degrees here.
that. is. really. fucking. hot. ha.

went to cvs, got my prescriptions, then went to the clark county animal shelter so i could get sascha registered. there is a huge dog park here for her to run around and play, but you aren't allowed in unless the dog has a las vegas tag on their collar. so, i got that done and im going to take her to the park tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.

went and had some breakfast at this place called the bagel cafe. its like a new york deli. completely orgasmic. whitefish salad that would make you slap yo momma.

after that, i decided to go the wynn to play a little blackjack (shocker, i know).....won $750 in 20 minutes. since i have no job, i took the money and rolled the fuck out of there with a quickness.

going out for dinner with amy and some of her friends in a bit. thats about it for today.
